In Salon-de-Provence (France), Nostradamus wrote the document
named The Prophecies (initial publication 1555). In the preface to
that work, Nostradamus told of encountering the spirit of Jesus
Christ; and Nostradamus named Jesus Christ as the true author of
the enigmatic four-line verses (called quatrains). He also explained
his work would be misunderstood, purposefully, so that they would not
be unnecessarily harmful, nor would they be destroyed, before they
would need to be fully understood. His words can now be realized as
true, regardless of how much the quatrains and letters have puzzled
