The History Channel's program, "Nostradamus: 2012," offered the following quatrains as evidence of a
coming cataclysm, such as the Mayan calendar predicts will occur in 2012. In their order of presentation:
I - 55 This was basically translated close to what Nostradamus wrote, but one line of the 4-line poem was
omitted.
II - 03 This was also basically translated close to what Nostradamus wrote, but raise your hand if you
knew where Negrepont is. That was not explained, as they were only looking to sort out one word per
line to highlight. Negrepont was not the word they used on line two. They also did not list line four, which
helps narrow Negrepont down to being in the neighborhood of Rhodes and Genoa.
V - 98 This quatrain has numbers spelled out in it. I believe the show reduced that spelling to numerical
numbers, which is wrong. Here is a clue for you all. The walrus was Paul. Plus, what is the difference
between forty & eight, eight & forty, forty eight and forty-eight? Guess what? If you said nothing, you are
not very observant AND you're wrong. Forty eight does not mean 48 in Nostradamus language. Also,
this quatrain was chosen to quickly follow quatrain II-03. The reason is both make statements that
indicate fish being cooked, while swimming in their natural habitat. However, they omitted Rhodes and
Genoa from II-03, while omitting Bearn and Bigorre from this quatrain. Do you know where Bearn and
Bigorre are located? Further, some expert followed this presentation to talk about some craziness
connecting a latitude on Earth and the thing called the Dark Rift in the Milky Way. I was still making
notes, so I don't recall exactly what he was he was trying to say; but I believe it had something to do with
the Mayan timing of December 2012 and some galactic convergence. Nostradamus wrote some real
important quatrains that point to that time; but they missed those.
I - 69 They did okay with this translation. Somehow they determined this quatrain tells of a coming
destruction of (I guess) the Great Pyramid of Giza (a mountain seven stadia round). They used this
quatrain to transition into some Egyptian hieroglyphics that also tell of 2012 (maybe that year?), and the
destruction of the pyramids. I had never heard that one before; and I do not see Nostradamus writing
about the pyramids. The word "mountain" certainly plays a role in The Prophecies. By the way, did they
ever catch Osama bin Laden? Maybe he was on one of those tour bus groups in Egypt?
Presage 16 I guess they wanted to give poor old Bernard Chevignard some love . He was interviewed
in the History Channel's "Tales from the Lost Crypt," episode, ooops I mean the "Lost Book of
Nostradamus" production they aired. Chevignard (from what I found on the Internet) came up with the
idea that several (perhaps many?) of Nostradamus' other predictions (not in The Prophecies) sound
very similar to the quatrains in The Prophecies. For that reason, he alone has written a book that is
something like the "lost hits of Nostradamus." Presage 16 was actually dated to be a prediction for the
month of May, in the year 1557. I guess we could just write this off as the cyclic nature of planetary
movements, since that was what Nostradamus based his Almanac predictions on. However, he did use
words from French in both, so maybe he has something. Chevignard found a few verses that
Nostradamus repeated. I guess Nostradamus' magic bowl had a season when all the new future visions
were reruns? This presage led to talk about the possibility of a change coming for Earth's magnetic
fields. I can only guess that segue was based on line four saying, "Undone, death, caught, arrived at a
bad hour." Yow! Not now solar waves, I have my magnetic fields down.
At this point a first occurred! Perhaps someone has been reading my blog, at least enough to realize,
"YOU HAVE TO JUSTIFY YOUR WORK WITH THE QUATRAINS BY TELLING US WHERE
NOSTRADAMUS SAID THAT WAS SO IN ONE OF HIS LETTERS!" They actually made the magic
hand write some of the words Nostradamus wrote in his letter of explanation, when he mailed to King
Henry II. However, they omitted a couple of important parts, which appear between the parts they
chose to show. One said the name Jesus Christ, while the other stated the month of October. Since the
Galactic Alignment is December 21, 2012, they cut those parts out. Plus, it would be bad if they let
someone blame Jesus as the cause for Death Star Gallactica. In any case, the part they clipped and
showed on the program is important; but they chose about 40 words (generous count) from a document
that is over 4200 words long. I mean this document has evidence that has Nostradamus stating 2012
(just not in so many words), but they chose the part where Nostradamus said we all would feel like the
earth has lost its gravity. And, from this they transitioned into those pesky alchemists and the
Freemasons carving hidden symbolic messages into the fronts of cathedrals in Europe. I guess they
have to plug their other shows.
X - 99 This is where you have to put your foot down. QUATrain means FOUR-line poems. Here, they
only showed two lines. This connected to the Freemason church-building tale, because some woodsy
creatures are written of in the full quatrain. Of course, all the animals are symbolic of some real human
beings; and I know who the wolf and lion are, but who are the ox and the ass? In this quatrain it states,
"douce manne," which translates generally to state, "sweet manna." However, it could say, "gentle vein
of earth," or the "pleasing open basket with handles." Anyway, they see the ending of "sweet manna"
being tied to a great famine; but then they change it to read "honey sweet manna" (honey is not a word
Nostradamus wrote), which leads them to talk about the sudden shortage of honeybees in the world. No
honey bees means no food pollinated, which means no honey sweet manna.
II - 40 They did a standard job of syntactical translation here, but did not come close on the punctuation,
while omitting line three. Line three is a key line, as it tells us the quatrain is all about a naval battle.
They led into this quatrain by talking about rumors that Nostradamus was a Freemason. Unless
Nostradamus moonlighted as a cathedral builder, he could not have been a mason. The Freemasons
were created in England in 1717, with the Scottish Rite maybe1660? If they talked about something
after this, I missed it. Not long after they presented the next quatrain.
IX - 48 I got a laugh out of this one. The translation was poor, due to syntactical errors. They also
messed up the punctuation, which had them mistranslate "la prime" as though Nostradamus meant to
write, "la printemps" (which he did not). The quatrain talks about some wind, and they presented this as
possibly being a reference to Hurricane Katrina. They said this because New Orleans is surrounded by
swamps. (laugh, laugh, laugh) This is a future quatrain, which talks about a hard early winter in some
major U.S. city, on the Atlantic seacoast, which is surrounded by swamp. Hmmm Which is more
important? Baltimore, MD or Washington, D.C.? Gimme a minute.
III - 46 Here is another quatrain poorly translated. Granted, it is not an easy one to make sense of,
unless you see where it pieces into the whole story (something the History Channel cares nothing about).
It has to do with some biblical stuff; and they did pick this one out decently, as they went from this
quatrain to talking about the Cross at Hendaye (in extreme, Atlantic coast SW France, almost Spain),
and the use of alchemical symbols on it. They tied the quatrain to one of the figures in the stone of the
cross best; but this quatrain could be a lucky guess. Still, this quatrain is one about the general coming
of the end; and it is remarkable because it is the only quatrain with parentheses. They didn't care about
that.
I - 29 Another laugher here, and they did okay with the translation. I laughed because this is one of the
easier quatrains to figure out (for me), but they were saying it had to do with the Indonesian Tsunami of
2004. Is is amazing someone could say that, when you see clearly the quatrain tells of a wave hitting a
wall of enemies. How does a tsunami have enemies? Mean fish coming ashore in the wave? Okay, I
jest. If I told you I saw a monster that came out of the sea, and rolled over sand, with a smooth outer
covering, full of enemies, would you think I was talking tsunami? Maybe its me?
V - 32 This quatrain was not translated that bad. It is hard to get specific about its meaning, without
having to sign you up to a full weekend workshop, designed to teach you how to read Nostradamus.
However, this is a broad stroke quatrain. Writers begin with broad strokes, and then add in the details
later. This is an introductory quatrain that connects to a bunch that sets up the astrological use of the
planets and orbs. Somehow they got a nuclear accident out of this, or some of those pesky superwaves
coming at Earth from outer space. Oh well. They then talked about stuff that had the number seven in it:
the seventh picture not shown in The Lost Book of Nostradamus, and the Jewish (Hebrew) Calendar
supposed to end in the year 7,000.
VIII - 70 This is an oldie about Saddam Hussein. Its been around the block a few times. They love it
when Nostradamus wrote "Mesopotamia" in a quatrain. They nail those down pretty fast as being about
Iraq. I don't think they spent much time on this one, going right to the next quatrain.
III - 61 This is another of those stating "Mesopotamia." The translation is poor, and they did not do much
more than show some pictures of the American occupation in Iraq. Certainly, Iraq should be a concern
for anyone having a slight belief in Nostradamus. It is not a good place to be. In fact, it is a very bad
place to be.
III - 06 This quatrain has the words "famine" and "drought." I imagine that was enough to run with, as far
as talking about coming economic disasters, banking failures, the end of paper money, followed by no
medicines being available to stop disease. They saw this as being rooted in not enough food for
everyone. A good idea, all that is written about; but that's not what this quatrain is about.
II - 91 They used this not very well translated quatrain to talk about a world out of control and
mismanaged. They compared us (the world) to being the next Atlantis, saying we were living in a
bottleneck of time, pushed to the limits of our abilities. One of the experts asked the question, "Do we
have the courage to follow spiritually-based science to save the future?" Hmmmm I'm not quite sure
what science has to do with saving the world. Science will be what ruins the world. I'll just pare the
question down to, "Do we have any courage to overcome science, and save our asses?" The quatrain,
by the way, is in the same section as the one about Baltimore (?) and the swamp.
In Conclusion: I know this is not highly detailed. I have books out there that add some detail, but not
specifically to all these quatrains. The point is you either have to take my word, or do some work on your
own. The History Channel should be renamed the Hogwash Channel, and only Swine like hogwash. I
don't toss my finest pearls before swine. Still, I have given you enough to see that the Nostradamus part
of Nostradamus: 2012 was not Michel de Nostre Dame. It might have been better to name it "Websters:
2012," since they really only focused on three words per quatrain, and only then vaguely.
Nostradamus wrote something that should at least be recognized as a literary masterpiece. All one has
to do it put it together into a chronologically sensible epic poem. I can do that; but it is the message that
is so much more important. It is The Prophecies that prove God, prove Jesus, prove Nostradamus, and
prove we are going to hell in a handbasket if we don't rise up and refuse to allow our leaders to mess
with human beings, like they are disposable toys. Look at what is going on in Gaza. Listen to the threats
cast about month to month, year to year. I sure don't want to wake up one morning and be able to say, "I
told you so." We have to look at it as a team effort. One person does little alone. A lot of people doing
a little is all it takes.
