The Libyan "Tar baby"

I was watching “news entertainment television” the other day, and one talking head said a retired U.S. military
general (another talking head) called the “No Fly Zone” in Libya a “Tar baby.”

For those who do not read the classic literature of Joel Chandler Harris (a.k.a. Uncle Remus), and do not recognize
the name “Tar baby,” the “Tar baby” was a trick pulled on Brer Rabbit, by Brers Fox and Bear.  The “Tar baby” was
made of sticky substance (tar), and shaped like a baby rabbit.  When Brer Rabbit came by and saw the “Tar baby”
sitting in the road, he tried to talk to it, but when it would not answer, Brer Rabbit got all caught up in the tar, trying to
shake an answer out of the “Tar baby.”

This story is seen in comparison to the situation in Libya.  Joining a group that wants to help overthrow the current
Libyan government can be a trick that can become a sticky mess.  If the Arab League wants us to join, one must
ask, “Why?”  It sounds like someone trying to sell the world on invading Iraq to get rid of that madman Saddam
Hussein, who is killing his own people!  Let’s get in on that action and kill some of his people too!

Since American illiterates and brainwashed youths are happily dying in Afghanistan and Iraq, why not Libya?  If
American parents can use “fighting for liberty” as a reason to watch a funeral, let’s print up some, “My dead
offspring is a hero” bumper stickers and sell them for a capitalistic profit.  Of course, that plan would be ruined if
parents started forbidding their children from joining such suicide nonsense.  Defend liberty by not leaving the USA.
That way, we might be able to actually police our own borders, rather than drive over roadside bombs some place
foreign.

The military general the talking head quoted must have thought Libya was simply trying to get us to supply more
hero material for Islamic jihad retribution.  Brer Muammar Gaddafi said the first day after this “revolution” began,
“This is all the doings of Osama bin Laden.” (I paraphrased)   Perhaps that was a slip of the tongue, where the truth
actually came out.  Hmmmmm.  I wonder why Osama bin Laden would want us to go kill Libyans?   Hmmmmm.  Could
it be to stretch our forces so thin it would be easier to kill them?  Hmmmmmm.  Join the Army and see how much of
the world hates America.

Due to all this concern (or lack of concern) I have selected portions of twelve quatrains from The Prophecies that
give me a very good idea about where this “No Fly Zone” over Libya is headed.  If I had never heard of
Nostradamus, or learned the meaning of what he wrote, I probably would be like many other Americans and think
whatever our government wants to do is cool, as long as I don’t have to do anything.  However, I do understand
Nostradamus, and once again let me scream, (ahem) “WE ARE GOING THE WRONG WAY!”  Now that that is said, I
will let you be the judge.

Here are the twelve quatrains.  Everything is in the Old French of Nostradamus, so I won’t be bending anything to
appear to suit my needs.  See if you can see how all of this is relative to what is going on in North Africa these last
few weeks.
