It seems that whenever one of the major cable channels runs one of its money-making "Nostradamus" shows, I see an increase in people searching for more information and finding this site. Most recently a new production was hyped by the History Channel, with their presentation of "The Lost Manuscript of Nostradamus." Here are some of my observations.
Only Peter Lemesurier is a qualified "expert" on Nostradamus. Victor Bains has never done any more than echo the observations of others. Vincent Bridges is simply (in my opinion) someone who looks something like John Hogue ( another "qualified expert" on Nostradamus), with a reputation based on metaphysical writings that have little to do with Nostradamus. I may be wrong, but I only found postings of legal bickerings between associates of Mr. Bridges, when I searched his connection to Nostradamus. In other words, the show produced a lot of opinion, with none of it admissable as evidence of anything. Its like showing something about Nostradamus, then showing a picture of an asshole. Its something everyone has, so a few specific assholes become the slight of hand before something of actual fact is presented. On with the show....
In case you missed it, the show admitted it was not Nostradamus, the man we all think of when we hear the name (Michel de Nostradame), who could have produced this manuscript in question. At best, if it was not a forgery, it was the production of Nostradamus' son, Caesar ... also with the last name Nostradamus. Caesar was the baby who Nostradamus appeared to dedicate his Preface to, thus he was born in 1554 (the year before The Prophecies). Nostradamus died in 1566, when Caesar was 12; and, the program stated the manuscript became the possession of the Vatican in 1629. It is believed that Caesar died around 1630, having born no children, so the Church could very well have become the benefactor of something akin to his life's work. The show mentioned that Caesar was an artist and is believed to have painted the portrait of Nostradamus that has appeared on numberous books about his father. This calls for an explanation how Caesar would have known the complexities of his father's work; but, none were given. At this point, everything would be complete and total speculation as to how anything produced by Caesar Nostradamus would need to be considered as adding knowledge to what father Nostradamus meant. The only thing the show presented was pictures supposedly drawn by Caesar. Victor Bains and Vincent Price ... I mean Bridges ... made observations about what they thought the pictures meant. I think some ink blots are two birds kissing. Do you see it?
I will say this additionally: This missing manuscript was known in the late 80's or early 90's. A book has been in print about it since 1994. Maybe it just took 13 years for the History Channel to produce a "new" Nostradamus show to hawk. Still, one picture they did show was strongly connected to what Nostradamus stated was the theme to The Prophecies, in his Letter of Preface. It was the theme that the end of the world would begin towards that end when "Kings, Church and Sects became diametrically opposite" from their positions of power in 1555. In the picture three pedistals held three heads - one a King, one a Pope and one was obscured by a hand holding a scythe at the throat of the Pope. That scythe was the downfall of Kings from power and the corruption of the Church, and the diametrically opposite condition is the rise of the common man to power, through the philosophies of Man (Sects), as forms of government of the people. That is why the end of the world will eventually come ... because Man alone is unworthy of true leadership. As Nostradamus put it ... the world's rulers will become "inhuman tyrants." That picture held that statement symbolically.
Of course, the tower of flames did depict the events of September 11, 2001. However, as the tower burns it becomes a torch of light. The events of 9-1-1 were to light the warning that the end is nearly upon us. That was what opened my eyes and understanding to Nostradamus; and, Nostradamus wrote perfectly about 9-1-1. So, Caesar might have figured out his father's work, one way or another. But still, unless you know what the prophecies say, you are never able to become convinced that danger is truly near, simply because of some pictures.
