While the same general message told by Nostradamus is same message told in the Bible, by the biblical prophets, the specifics of Nostradamus' story makes it much easier to adapt to our present times and near future. The difference of significance, as I see it, is that Nostradamus (when understood on a level equal to understanding biblical prophecy is now) makes a loud call (a cry) to the faithful, to act immediately, not years later or never. The danger is now; and those specializing in biblical prophecy echo this idea. However, the specifics of Nostradamus' prophecy state the result of a failure to act. Without that additional knowledge it becomes easy to reject the idea that the end can be delayed, postponed or rescheduled for a later date much later, hopefully. A change such as that becomes completely dependent on acting on faith, where each Christian stands (runs) and says, "I believe you have spoken through the prophets. I believe you are calling, Wolf!' to save our souls from harm. I believe that by acting on my faith I can make the wolf disappear, so it appears to only be another test."
Without those specifics it becomes possible to say, "The people targeted by the wolf deserve what is coming to them. I am protected by claiming to believe Jesus watches over my soul; and I believe those who told me that biblical prophecy cannot be changed. I believe those who tell me that no prophecy is a true prophecy of God unless it comes true 100% as prophesied. I believe those who tell me that there will only be false prophets to come and beware of people like Nostradamus, who practiced the arts of the devil. I believe those who tell me that God no longer speaks through the prophets, like he did in the times of the Old Testament, up until the time Jesus spoke to John and told him to write The Revelation. However, since some people tell me that the people who determined what books would make up the Bible argued over whether or not they believed The Revelation should be included with the other books of the Bible; I might not truly believe The Revelations was from Jesus."
If you find yourself being one of the believers I just hypothesized about (and I meet them all the time), I believe its time you realized it is times like those when Jesus will return. It is times like those when the wolf will truly come, causing the people to gleefully wait in their churches and homes for a Rapture. It is times like those when people will gather in groups to spew blame on others and set expectations that others will suffer pains and agony. It is times like those when too few will respond to the call of Jesus, to repent and be saved, by coming to defeat the wolf. The Bible and Nostradamus both say that the wolf will indeed win the day, because people will be too busy, not caring for their souls, to act and save them. The point of The Shepherd Boy and the Wolf is what happens when no one responds. The point of Matthew and the Gospels is true Christians always drop everything to answer the call.
