To address the point that I make, which is the individual quatrains are out of order and need to be reordered to properly read them (reading them individually takes them out of context and limits one's understanding), I want to go over the first quatrain that appears in the reordered style.
This quatrain immediately stands out as separate from all others for three reasons. One, it is the only quatrain (remember this means "four-line verse") that has five lines. Two, the first line is in all-cap letters, like a heading, rather than a line. And three, it is basically written all in Latin, as opposed to the more typical all-French verses. When you read the Systems of Nostradamus that I wrote of in my first book, Pearls Before Swine, Volume 1: Predicting the Past, you know that Nostradamus used Latin in the quatrains and letters when he wrote in religious contexts. Some authors have written that this quatrain (number 100 in Centurie VI) is some kind of incantation, inclining one to believe that this quatrain acts as some kind of hex put on the reader, keeping them from understanding what the quatrains mean. This, of course, leads to the feel for Nostradamus as some kind of witch or sorcerer, which is not true; as the reality is that this quatrain is a guiding prayer for those who will try to understand.
The lines read:
LEGIS CANTIO CONTRA INEPTOS CRITICOS
Quos legent hosce versus mature’ censunto,
Profanum vulgur, & inscium ne attrectato:
Omnseq; Astrologi Blenni, Barbari procul sunto,
Qui alter faict, is rite’, sacer esto.
If you know Latin you may have a better chance of understanding exactly what this quatrain states; but it seems the people that have translated this and written what it says don't know Latin, nor take the time to understand the nuances of the language (i.e.: how endings work). This is roughly what it translates to read, keeping in mind that the systems forbid reading it as prose, in one breath. You have to look at each word individually and understand the full scope of meaning, before connecting that word to the next, where that defining process is repeated.
YOU SEE PICKED A SONG AGAINST THOSE FOOLISH CRITICS
To the ends that they see to read omens from birds (ravens, crows, owls)
verse anticipated they see to express an opinion,
Common people, & ignorant not to yet lay hands on
All kinds by themselves in any way; Astrologer B-level if not a go-between,
Uncultivated from a distance they do see themselves,
Who falsely made, this ritualized, devoted to destruction I see indeed.
Without doing all of the work for you (explaining everything that goes into deciphering this quatrain), see if you can get a feel for how this quatrain is telling everyone that you will make mistakes if you act foolish. It is not a group of omens, but a Prophecy of Jesus Christ. The common people will be the ones wishing to take advantage of the words, but only when they are ready to know the meaning should they try to read them. This includes everyone, especially if one is not an astrologer connected to Christ. The people of the lands that astrology came from (the Middle East), i.e.: Muslims, will easily see themselves written of in the verses. They will then see Nostradamus' work as false prophecy, without the blessings of Allah, and they will plan for the destruction of the Crusaders.
In a nutshell, line four is stating the point that the stories of the majority of the quatrains tell. It is the Holy War of destruction that we see coming in the evening news each night on television. It is the story of The Revelation told in a more modern language. It is the perfect introduction to The Prophecies.
Happy Halloween! Till the next time ....
